Catastrophic-Disaster Bread

Zucchini in the garden EVERYWHERE forcing me to cook.
In the last two days we've had marinara sauce with zucchini,
scrambled eggs & ham with zucchini,
and zucchini bread...SORT OF.

Above is a photo of my baker's daughter shame...
It was supposed to be an infallible recipe...YEAH, RIGHT.
It's an expensive loaf pan that supposed to turn out
BEU-OOO-TIFUL magazine cover worthy
loaves of bread...uhm, WHATEVER!

Today, I made
Sticky-Fall-Apart-Catastrophic-Adhered Permanently
to-the-Pan-Bubble-Over-in-the-Oven
Smoke-up-the-House-and-Pert-Near
Burn-it-Down-Natural-Disaster-Bread.

You want the recipe?

It's ugly and YUMMY and comes with TWO ridiculously
impossible clean up chores.

The doors are all open RIGHT NOW to clear
out the smoke. I'm cleaning the oven
which keeps catching on fire a little bit and
all of my pot-holders look like they've been
cemented together with brown goo.

"Fun"...it's how we do it at The Beautiful Mess.

Can somebody come save me from my
bounty of zucchini? Please?

Breakfast...

FOOD photography is not easy.
I really wanna be like Leonor here BUT I'm not.
The eggs were yummy. ;)
Perhaps I should settle for being
a teeny bit like Simply Breakfast.
They're a cool blog that just takes
a picture of what they eat for breakfast.
Great Foodie Photography...see below.

For My Husband - Fibonacci Numbers

Fibonacci Numbers - Google It.
Essentially, they occur in nature giving
evidence that math is fundamental
in our universe and it's design.
Matt likes this idea cuz he believes
it means God is a math geek.
I must say, watching this, I can't disagree.

How many calories does Twittering burn?

OH, how I wish sending Tweets did indeed burn calories!
Lots and LOTS of calories!

-Had a fun run on Twitter with several people
that I LOOOoooVVVVEEE this afternoon,
during a yummy lunch (which my kids
did not consider yummy so they requested
other fare which meant they had to wait
until their recently worked-out, calorie
depleted mother took in some protein).

SO...I ate. I tweeted. I laughed.
I nearly asphyxiated on black-bean quinoa salad.
I got called out on my tweet frequency
whereupon I readily confessed the hungry
state of my runts in the next room over,
felt like the bad mom I was and
quit tweeting to cook. Here's proof.

Veggie Burgers with apples & caramel, ya'll!
(I'm so Paula Deen.)

My poor, undernourished children...
Aren't they the very picture of brattiness deprivation?

LAUGH a little!

Creative, SMART cat.

CRAZY like a fox...
How SMART is that? You can
actually WATCH it discover the
trampoline!

The DAWGINATOR...He'll be BACH.

This has not been photoshopped.
I don't even want to know how the owner
managed to get the dog in this condition.

Josh? Is this your dog?

Sisters

Sisters, sisters
there were never such devoted sisters.

Never had to have a chaperon, no sir,
we're there to keep our eye on her.

Caring, sharing
every little thing that we are wearing.

All kinds of weather, we stick together
the same in the rain or sun
three different faces, but in tight places,
we think and we act as one.

Co-dependency is ever so sweet...
just ask our husbands.

Camp Aunt K's

The boys are gone for a couple of nights.
Camp Aunt K's is the funniest place, EVER.
They've got GREAT junior counselors...Shelby & Lucas.
Their fun & fitness director Eric is da bomb!
And the director/dean of the joint, Aunt K herself,
makes sure that everyone gets what they want to eat,
has lots of gum, and does all sorts of stuff that mom would
probably veto but that's super-cool for an Aunt to do.
Matt and I highly recommend this camp.
It's first-rate with a quality staff & facility.
AND it's so darn cost-effective...well worth the trip down
to drop the little guys off.
We love you Camp Aunt K! Thanks!

We did it wrong, baby...Next Time...

When Matt & I get married to each other, again,
we're gonna do it like this. ;)

Chemo Starts Today

Three weeks ago it was summer, and swimming
and sticky ice-cream, and sunsets and moving into
a new house and a little, curly blonde-headed girl
beggin' for a dog. TODAY they're waging
the battle of their lives and chemo begins.

Can you please keep or start praying for Kate and her family?
Check out http://www.prayforkate.com

GO NOW, kiss your healthy babies who are,
blessedly, at home enjoying summer probably with
their bed-heads watching cartoons wanting breakfast
like mine. I am SO thankful. My HEART aches.

It should be a law somewhere in the universe
that kids CAN'T get sick. CANCER should leave children alone.

You HEAR me GOD? GOOOODDDDDD!
MAKE IT GO AWAY! please...

Cats & Dogs

Photography MOVES me lately much like music
sometimes does or used to do a lot more often.
I found these images today here & enjoyed them
so much that I had to share. I LOVE the light.
I LOVE the asymmetry in "Ginger's Chair".
Why do we notice so much more through a photograph
than we ever do with our very own eyes?
I HAD to go love on my dog after finding these.

Eli Thinking... The Voice Behind the Door...

It's Story Time Eli...
Write me a scary story with a happy ending
based on the picture below. Go, CREATE!

The Voice Behind The Door

"Mom, do we have to?""Yes Phoenix."
I did not want to spend my summer with grandma.
"But, it is HORRIBLE mom!
No TV, phone, radio, gaming systems, or anything."
Plus, my stupid, annoying, monster-fraid,
brother Mom says he gets it from me, but that's
wrong, WAY wrong Phoenix J. Phillips is not
afraid of monsters!)
would be
there which would guarantee a few black eyes.
"Boys, get your bags, you're leaving in
10 minutes." Mom told me I'm going to have
a great time, but I think I might die of being
bored. "Bye, love you!" Then we pulled away
from the driveway to the worst summer ever
in grandma's '90 accord.

After 24 hours of driving and 3 fist
fights over who's afraid of monsters, we got there,
to grandma's stinky old house at 9:00 pm.
"Welcome" grandpa said when
we walked in. "This will be your room,"
He said to me, I think that grandpa separated
us on purpose. "Lay your stuff down and
go to sleep." "But it's...", he shut the door,
"only 5:00." I laid my stuff down and then
noticed a smalldoor at the side of the room and
somehow went to sleep.
A cold breeze woke me, a strange noise with it.
Suddenly, a hand griped my arm, pulling at it.
I struck it. It let go and went through the small
door. I heard the little door latch shut but I
didn't sleep for the rest of the night. All I
did is sit on the side of the bed with a baseball
bat in my hand. Before the night was over,
it...the THING, attacked 10 more times and I was
sure that this house was haunted by monsters.

"Did you sleep good?" grandma asked, in the
morning as me and my brother walked
into the kitchen" "Yes" I lied.

12 hours later...

It had been another boring day at grandma's
house however the nights were anything but.
Right before bed, my brother decided to wear
his stupid Transformers PJ's. As I walked toward
my bed, I dropped my PSP, and as I bent down
to get it, I felt that same cold breeze and
voice saying, "You hurt me, now I'll hurt you."

It jumped out from behind the door and
attacked BUT this time it wouldn't get away.
I had set a trap for whatever it was so when
it tried to get me, the trap would spring and
catch it and I'd spray it with goo I found in
grandma's fridge with the label "Veggie Pudding"
whatever that is. It is lumpy, sticky and smells
really bad. When it attacked, I was ready, the
trap sprung and I started spraying, but after I
sprayed it in the face it yelled. It was
my brother. Why did I forget? How could I?
He sleepwalks. The door must lead to his room.
He was dazed. "What happened?" he asked.
I said, "Let's get you some more jammas and get
you back to bed." We woke up the next morning
and all was back to normal. The rest of the
summer was a huge bored-out-of-your-pants-summer
full of reading and drawing. The only thing sort
of exciting that kept turning up was grandma's
green goo that I used to get my brother,
the veggie pudding. Ugh, that stuff tastes bad....

THE END!

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Nana, your house does NOT smell bad
and is NOT boring
This story is made up!
TOTALLY!
Nothing is from real life!
NADA(Spainish)

So, please take no offense from this story and

Isaac
YOU ROCK!!!!!!! (9 1/2% of the time).

Apples Rock

apples...

They ROCK! Thats right, they do.

Not only our they good for you but they are great at getting your teeth out! OF the 6 I have lost half of them have come out because of me biting into apples!(The rest I either lost to milk duds or mom pulling them out)

Apples also taste good and can be used as planets in your fruit star system!( I saw that on a show when I was about 4, OK.)

Apollo 11 40th Anniversery

Yesterday, I was listening to the news and
this is what I heard:

Today, 40 years ago, We landed on the moon
and today The International S
pace Station reports
that their toilet is clogged.

I think it is FUNNY but I also think that's weird.
I mean, NASA is full of smart people engineers
and rocket scientist and they can't figure out
how to make sure the toilet doesn't get clogged.

Happy 40th anniversary Apollo 11 and I hope you can
hold it in up there ISS
maybe next time you guys should take a plunger!
